From Safari to Space: Summer at BASIS Prague
Summer at BASIS Prague was once again a time for creativity, movement, new experiences, and plenty of fun. Over the course of several weeks, children explored new interests, tried things they had never done before, and made memories and friendships that will last well beyond the summer.

Preschool: From Little Adventurers to Proud Chefs
Our youngest students enjoyed three very different summer camps this year, each with their own theme and plenty of hands-on activities.
During Jungle Safari Week, the children became little explorers for the week. They learned about rainforest animals, created nature-inspired artwork, and went on their own searches for jungle treasures. One of the highlights was a visit from an exotic animal keeper, who brought several animals for the children to see up close. They listened with great interest as he talked about the animals, their needs, and where they live in the wild.

Olympic Week brought plenty of movement, friendly competition, and team spirit. The children cheered each other on during a variety of challenges and learned that being part of a team is just as much about supporting others as it is about taking part. They also had plenty of fun during a trip to the jump park in Ladronka.
The preschool summer program finished with Little Chefs Camp, where the children got to experiment with simple recipes, try new flavors, and make their own culinary creations. They were only too happy to share what they had made, with plenty of pride in their finished dishes.

School: From Rocket Launches to Cities of the Future
Our school students spent their summer exploring everything from outer space to the architecture of the future.
At Space Discovery Camp, they looked beyond our planet and into the world of space exploration. They built their own rocket models, learned to identify constellations, tackled engineering challenges, and explored the connection between space research and technological innovation. They put their ideas to the test through hands-on experiments and team challenges.
A visit to an observatory was a particular highlight. The students explored different types of telescopes, carried out experiments, and had the opportunity to observe the Sun for themselves.

The second school camp, Architecture Through the Ages, took students from prehistoric caves and medieval castles to ideas for what cities might look like in the future. They explored how architecture has changed over time and saw examples of different architectural styles firsthand during a guided walking tour of Prague.
Sustainability was an important part of the camp, too. As part of a project challenge, the students worked together to find ways to “save” an urban block from the effects of climate change. Their exploration of architecture and history ended with a visit to Karlštejn Castle, bringing some of the ideas they had discussed in the classroom to life.

Although the camps covered very different subjects, they all had one thing in common: learning happened through doing. Whether the children were cooking, building rockets, playing sports, designing cities, or investigating scientific questions, they had opportunities to work together, try new things, solve problems, and build confidence along the way.
Thank you to all the children, teachers, and parents who made this summer so memorable. We are already looking forward to another summer of new ideas, new experiences, and plenty of adventures.
