At BASIS Prague, learning doesn’t end when students leave the classroom. Every May, our students gain new experiences in one of our three camps: Athletics Camp, Swim Camp, and School in Nature Camp. These camps combine practical skills, teamwork, and unforgettable memories. Students attend a specific camp based on which Level they attend.

Athletics Camp – Races, Olympics, and Medals

Our youngest Level 1 and Level 2 students once again enjoyed a week full of movement and excitement as part of the Athletics Camp. Attending the Podolí campus, they took part in sports competitions, team challenges, and their own mini-Olympics, where they tested their skills in running, jumping, and balance activities. As a special reward for their efforts, they got to design and create their own original Olympic medals.

The program also included trips to the bowling alley, glow-in-the-dark mini golf, and the park, where students had plenty of opportunities for active play and spending quality time together.

Swim Camp – In the Pool and Beyond

Students from Levels 3 and 4 participated in an intensive Swim Camp, an integral part of the school program. Through this week-long swimming camp, students complete the required number of swimming hours as part of their physical education curriculum.

Throughout the week, they trained in two daily lessons in small groups, allowing them to develop their swimming skills, gain greater confidence in the water, and learn the basics of water safety and self-rescue.

But the camp was about much more than swimming. Time between lessons was filled with team games, trips, and proper rest. Evenings were dedicated to movie nights, board games, creative projects, and even a dance party!

Students returned home not only with greater confidence in the water, but also with new experiences and memories.

School in Nature Camp – A Week in the Great Outdoors

Our oldest students in Levels 5 and 6 spent their Nature Camp at Lake Katlov near Kutná Hora. The entire week took place mostly outdoors, surrounded by nature. Students explored the area around the lake during walks, tried their hand at fishing, took part in science experiments, and played games.

One of the most unforgettable experiences was night fishing, during which students even managed to catch a catfish. Some students even chose to spend the night outdoors under the open sky. As per tradition, each evening ended around the campfire, where students shared stories.

Although each camp had a different focus, they all shared the same goal. Giving students the opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences, discover new things, and strengthen relationships with classmates and teachers.

Whether it was earning their first mini-Olympic medal, pushing their own limits in the pool, or celebrating an unforgettable catch by the lake, students took away much more from the May camps than just new skills. They left with memories they will cherish.
